The “Territory of the Chuquibambilla Knowledges” project has been developed in collaboration with the students and teachers of the secondary school in the Nomatsigenga Native Community of Chuquibambilla, in Pangoa, central Peru. With the support of the Prosolidar Foundation and the CPS NGO, the project invites us to reflect on the importance of preserving ancestral knowledge about tree species and their sustainable use. Throughout this experience, we have carried out various activities that have strengthened learning and promoted community participation, such as participatory diagnostic workshops, sessions on forest law and forest management, gender equality workshops, co-creation of a xiloteca, storytelling, and an exhibition event alongside two secondary schools.

The forest is the core of this educational experience. Guided by community elders, students observed and documented tree species, understood the dynamics of the ecosystem, and explored the role of wood in the forest environment. As a result, 13 wood species were selected and studied for a week to create the first Xiloteca of Chuquibambilla. This collection preserves the memory of trees and woods that have become scarce due to excessive logging, while also providing information about the woods that are still available
