Do you want to know the native community of Jerusalén de Miñaro? Let’s travel to this Nomatsiguenga community, located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

Jerusalén de Miñaro is a rural community of the Nomatsiguenga people located about an hour and a half by car from Pangoa. It is a stable community with a large population; approximately 150 families live there.

This primary educational institution has been operating for about 40 years, but the conditions of its infrastructure are woefully inadequate. The classrooms are made of lumber that is poorly sealed, and the roof is made of tin and palm leaves, with little to no ventilation or lighting. The school also lacks a school canteen and safe, hygienic lavatories.

The community has been completely abandoned for many years, and as result, education of its children has suffered the most. The aim of this project is to establish infrastructure adequate for the primary school, and provide the conditions necessary for local children to focus on their education.
